What is Manan and what kind of products do you offer?
We are a clothing and accessories brand based in New Delhi that works with weavers and artisans across Indian craft clusters. Founded in 1992, Manan has grown to offer exceptional clothing handcrafted in natural handloom fabrics like our signature linens, wools and cruelty-free silks that are turned into contemporary and ethnic staples to cherish for years. From womenswear to menswear, dupattas and jewellery, you can find a host of products crafted with care and a modern design sensibility. Our kurtas, shirts, dresses, co-ord sets and mix-and-match separates are built to be at home all over the world. In Delhi, you can find us at 37B Khan Market (Ground Floor) and at SS11 GMR Square at Aerocity.
What is the process of hand weaving and how is it different from other manufacturing techniques?
Hand weaving is an ancient textile-making technique where yarn or threads are interlaced together on a loom to form a fabric. Because each piece of fabric is made one at a time by hand, it is it a time-consuming process, but also allows for precise detailing and customisation. Our master weavers from Kashmir, Bhagalpur (Bihar) and Himachal Pradesh create specialised textiles that sit at the core of our design process, letting us use local fabrics made especially for our collections and only available at Manan.
How do I care for my handwoven clothing to ensure it lasts a long time?
Handwoven clothing that is well cared for lasts a long time, and our fabrics are woven in the highest quality to become softer and more buttery with each wash. A few tips to help:
Storage
Once you've invested in a piece by Manan, be sure to store it in a dry place to keep the fabric aired. Unless a garment is dirty or stained, try to maximise the number of wears before washing it.
Maintenance
If a tear occurs, or threads come loose after repeated wash and wear, take your garment to be fixed by your local tailor and it will be good as new. High quality clothing will look and feel excellent even after many years of use and storage.
Washing
While washing, keep clothing zipped or buttoned up to avoid accidental snags on hooks and other sharp objects in the washing machine. Wash small loads at a time for best results. Dry out of the direct sun to keep colours intact. Each garment comes with a care label to follow closely to help you ensure its longevity.
How do I care for my linen dresses from Manan to ensure they last a long time?
Luxurious, breathable and versatile, linen has a special place in our hearts. Starting from the loom, our linen is woven to create high quality fabrics that will stand the test of time. Some suggestions for longevity -
Washing
While washing, keep clothing zipped or buttoned up to avoid accidental snags on hooks and other sharp objects in the washing machine. Wash similar colours together to avoid any accidental colour transfers. If the product has embellishments, embroidery or beading, gently soak and then wash it by hand. After washing, hang the clothing to dry away from direct light.
SOS Stains
In case of any stains, spot clean them with soap as soon as you can, and then wash the garment in cold water with a gentle detergent. Each garment comes with a care label to help you ensure its longevity.
Ironing & Storage
Linen is best ironed while damp. Since it gets softer with each consecutive wash, you will be able to enjoy your linen clothing more and more as time passes.
Can you tell us more about your Raya collection and the inspiration behind it?
Raya is a collection that celebrates the beauty of linen in its purest form. Handmade details, woven stripes and floral prints are created in a nostalgic palette of ivory, ash, and fern. Influences from the East and the West merge seamlessly onto with our most-loved silhouettes, and are just right for your summer wardrobe.
What makes Manan's linen, cotton and silk fabrics different from other fabrics?
At Manan, our fabrics embody the spirit of what we do. Our textiles are woven by hand artisans based in craft clusters across India. The fabrics are perfected after months of trial and experimentation, leading to unique patterns that Manan is synonymous with.
Our linen yarn is dyed and woven into our signature patterns, then turned into ultra-wearable clothing that is finished with hand-embroidered details. Linen becomes softer with each wash, so when you invest in a timeless piece, you can come back to it again and again––moisture wicking and better every time.
We are proud to use eri silk, also dubbed 'ahimsa' silk with its characteristic texture, durability and temperature-regulating properties. Our fabric blends combine wool, viscose, cotton, silk and linen to achieve a beautiful finish. We are proud to be a company that controls and oversees the entire sourcing and production process.
What makes your handwoven clothing unique and different from other brands?
At Manan, we spend months developing our fabrics, created in small batches by artisan communities under minimal waste policies and fair monetary conditions. Over time, we have become synonymous with innovation in linen. Our experiments with design, weave and colour have become a highlight for our clientele. Handwoven clothing has the unique signature of the artisan that weaves the fabric - as such, each woven fabric lot is unique and beautiful. We celebrate and embrace this uniqueness with each design collection.
Do you offer customization options for your co-ord sets and Indian summer dresses?
We do not offer any design or embroidery customization. However, several of our pieces offer a choice in length while you're ordering on the website, so you can add on or reduce according to your measurements. We can increase or decrease the standard length of the piece by up to 2 inches. And if you're shopping in-store with us, just speak to one of our representatives for assistance with customisation.

How is your jewellery designed and how do you source stones?
All our jewellery is hand-crafted by expert artisans. All our designs start from rough sketches/concepts in our design house. The semi-precious stones used in our designs are naturally occurring, and as such, they vary in colour (lighter or darker than the images), in texture and in size. The variations in the stones and in the designs is part of the beauty of hand-made jewellery using natural stones. Every piece is unique and special.
How are your handcrafted jewellery pieces made and what materials are used?
Jewellery by Manan harnesses the raw beauty of semi-precious stones to create unique pieces that are lightweight and versatile. Pearls, emeralds, rose quartz, jade, amethyst, garnet, tourmaline and more are set by hand on gold-plated brass for simple yet beautiful pieces made to be cherished for a long time to come.
What is the process of making your gold plated jewellery and how durable is it?
Our gold jewellery is handcrafted in 18 karat gold on brass, using nature-inspired forms and semi-precious stones. The process of electroplating is used to strengthen the gold and maintain its appearance over a longer period of time. To avoid oxidization of the gold plating, keep the jewellery away from prolonged contact with water, chemicals or perfumes. For best care, store your jewellery in an airtight bag or its original packaging.
